Ignore the kinda clickbaity title but this video is actually really interesting and breaks down why monsters are popular in modern media and how they turned from spooky things to items of desire and how they became relatable

(I’m not explaining this properly but seriously, its interesting to watch.)

I haven’t watched anything from Lindsay Ellis since her Nostalgia Chick days, which are great btw. Watch her break down of Labyrinth. It’s hilarious and enlightening…

This video explains the attraction of monsters and what they represent within a cultural, historical and psychological context. She explains how and why the depiction of monsters changed in media and why many people relate to them and also find them desirable.

Also manimal…hurr hurr

A whole bunch of samples from my story, Thirsty Work for the anthology Smut Peddler presents: My Monster Boyfriend.
There are only 7 DAYS LEFT to get in on the Kickstarter for this book!
Come check it out: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ironspike/the-smut-peddler-double-header

Not sure how up to date the information on the kickstarter page is but their FAQ says the comic will be available even after the kickstarter finishes.

There are some very interesting previews by the various artists contributing to this project.

My first try to draw an orc. This is how I imagine Riyu from The Sorceress’s Orc looked like. He had a mane of long black hair with many little braids and lots of golden earrings. It was never mentioned if he had any facial hair but I decided to give him some because why not…

And as you can see, I’m shit at coloring.

Ooohhh, the future husband? Congratulations!😀

Longing

I think everyone has “that” Disney movie that they love. For me, it was Beauty and the Beast. It was my movie growing up – I bought the collector’s edition DVDs, lithographs and posters, saw it on Broadway thrice before it closed, and the soundtrack has a permanent place in whatever device I hold in my hand today.

Needless to say I am really excited for the live action movie, so here’s Belle and the Beast, aching for each other, and the Beast too afraid to touch her.

Lots of light/dark elements here, with the Beast emerging from the shadows and Belle sparkling in the light. I combined the designs from the live action film, the animated movie and my own imagination to create this piece. Hope you enjoy!
