When she was young, and had been first taught the art of conjuring by the necromancer, her father, she was always practicing her skill, whizzing about from one kingdom to another upon her black stick, and conferring her fairy favors upon this Prince or that.
Reylo vibe recommendation by @ewa-jednak-chce-spac who says: “This book gives me Reylo vibes due to the fact that the main romantic couple is a prince and a servant girl. He’s the rightful heir to the throne (stolen by his uncle) and a servant girl (later she turns out to be a lost princess from another kingdom). He’s the rightful heir to the throne (stolen by his uncle). The servant girl later turns out to be a lost princess from another kingdom. So it gives me Reylo vibes mostly because of the forbidden love between a guy from royality and a poor girl. 😉
There are some adaptations of this book, including a Polish TV series from 1980s. A piece of trivia: In the Anglo-Saxon world this book is treated (as it was intended) as a satirical book, while in Poland it’s treated as a fairytale story for children. ;)”

“Once upon a time, many centuries ago, Thengil the Evil went out to the wilderness and sold his soul to the Devil. He became the forefather of the Ice People. For wealth and power, one of his descendants, in every generation, would be cursed to serve the devil and perform evil deeds. Their distinguishing feature would be yellow cat eyes and they would possess magical powers. Some say they will never be free of the curse until they unearth the urn containing the potion that Tengel the Evil used to summon the Devil. It is said one day a child of his blood will be born, gifted with knowledge and wisdom the like of which the world has never known before who will end the family curse. So says the legend but no one knows if it’s true.
In the 16th century, a cursed child of the Ice People was born. He tried to turn evil to good, and therefore he was called Thengil the Good. This saga is about his family. Or rather it is about the women in his family.”
Reylo vibe recommendation by @ever-hungry-aria who says: “It has a Reylo vibe, a huge one. Many guys in that family are basically Kylo, have powers, are cursed by their own blood, they have interesting looks (scary, but imagine Khal Drogo, but with like a demonic aura and yellow eyes holy shit), but (mostly) fight to become better. The first introduced couple is very much like Reylo, but without the girl having powers. The story has also many interesting romances, with folktale creatures, demons, fucking dark angels, take your pick :D"
Additional information by @neoma2: “ I believe Shira and Mar from the 17th volume of, bear some similarities with reylo.
They both come from the Ice People and both were born with special powers – but while she is “the chosen one”, he is “the afflicted one” – on the apparently bad side. She will have to go on a mission to get something essential for Ice People story and has been prepared for that for her whole life. He from birth is servant of Shama, spirit of stone and death.
They are like opposite, but equal – and Mar will play crucial role in her journey, even though his Master opposes it. Also, Shira during one task of her mission has to resolve her mixed feeling for Mar.”

RED AS BLOOD or TALES FROM THE SISTERS GRIMMER by Tanith Lee
