The Piano (1997) by Jane Champion

This movie is rated +18

The Piano is one of my favourite movies and even when is not fantasy or much BATB tropes still has some Reylo vibes and is great to people that like Victorian AUs.

The movie tells the story of Ada, a young heiress that is sold in marriage by her father, to a man that she doesn’t know. Ada is mute since she is six years old, apparently by choice, but she says (with her inner voice) that she can “talk” with her piano. Ada starts to do classes to her husband’s neighbour (as a bargain to get back her piano that is now in his possession) and the things start to go… Out of proportion.

I found some typical, you know, Mysterious Byronic Hero and Spirited Heroine  tropes but George Bines is not the typical super-handsome dude. Baines starts as Ada, ahem, “student” but at the end they teach other.

This story just begins with pure lust and then goes into more. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, just saying. It’s an erotic drama movie. In anyway is a wonderful story with a magnificent music, performances and beautiful cinematography.
